Community Fibre Partnership
Worcester County Council (WCC) together with Central Government are funding a scheme to upgrade rural broadband to ultrafast broadband (BB).
To qualify residents and businesses must not be able to get BB speed of 100Mbps or more, must not be in an existing government funded scheme for a BB upgrade and apply as a group of 2 or more premises. All homes and businesses in Clent qualify for the scheme. The aim is for all premises in Clent to have ‘fibre to the premises’ (FTTP) which will provide download speeds of more than 100Mb/s and up to 1000Mb/s. This will digitally future proof and increase home values.
It is quite likely that this will be done at no cost to home and business owners due to funding from WCC. Indeed, the more premises which apply the less the cost. Furthermore, we need to get on with this as there is a time limit.
Clent Parish Council has decided to take the role of ‘Community Lead’ on behalf of all homes and businesses which wish to upgrade. The Parish Clerk has already started registering all homes in Clent using the ‘Openreach Community Fibre Partnership Portal’.
Residents are asked to spread the word amongst neighbours and friends.
